What is the Sunrise Trail Division
Officially, the Sunrise Trail Division is a Division of the Northeastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA).
Practically, however, it is the NMRA up close and personal for all New York metro area Model Railroaders.
For over 40 years it has made the Achievement program, clinics, information, services and other events originated by the NMRA
available to local modelers.
The Divisions Clinics help everyone learn more about railroads and railroad modeling. The NMRA qualified judges aid modelers in improving their skills
by evaluating their work in according to a common standard. Its Achievment program encourages and supports
those wishing to attain national recognition of their modeling skills.
Sunrise Trail conducts meets, sponsers Bus trips, publishes a quarterly newsletter and helps in other ways to
encourage model railroading in the New York metro area.
Any member of the NMRA is good standing residing in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau or Suffolk is automatically
a member of the Sunrise Trail Division. But we'd like to see everyone become an active member.
You can do so by taking part in any of the Division's activities, even if that only means
enjoying the fellowship of other model railroaders at meets.
To find out more about the Sunrise Trail Division and what you can do to become more involved, speak to one of
the officers or directors. You'll recognize them by their distinctive, red-lettered badges at any meet.
